10 Great Fighting Movies

Trying to select 10 great fighting movies is kind of like trying to decide on a few favorite ice cream flavors; they’re all pretty good, but some are better than others. For clarification, though, this list will focus on martial arts movies.
Rocky IV

Some might want to debate this opinion, but this is where the Rocky movies stopped being great. The fight against Drago was epic, but it was his last great match since Rocky V and beyond was, well, unnecessary.
Bloodsport

The story of Frank Dux was a lot more exciting when fictionalized in film than in real life. What’s really fun is that Van Damme brought to this story what Dux couldn’t, which is delivering a story that people were willing to watch again and again.
Kickboxer

The art of Muay Thai is just as interesting as it is brutal, and this movie makes it look like Tong Po is unstoppable. But once the final fight comes, it’s even more brutal than it begins.
The Legend of Drunken Master

Jackie Chan was the man back in the day, especially since he did his stunts and took the hits. But this movie is one of those that could have been the end of him, considering everything he went through. I mean, falling into hot coals, yikes.
Enter the Dragon

Bruce Lee had a good run in the film business, but this has to be one of his best movies ever. It was also his last since he passed away only shortly before its release.
Fight Club

Obviously, Fight Club goes on to be about much more than fighting, but the way it starts is straight-up brutal. Guys don’t need much of a reason to fight, but this level of brutality is all kinds of messed up.
Million Dollar Baby

Boxers are a dime a dozen since many try to enter the ring and make a legend with their skills. Only a fraction of those who put on the gloves make anything of themselves, though, and the tragedy that strikes Maggie down in this movie is all kinds of wrong.
Ip Man

The fictionalized version of the real man has entertained people for years. Donnie Yen put great effort into these movies, and the fight scenes are spectacular enough to watch repeatedly.
Warrior

MMA has taken the fighting world by storm since the ’90s despite being introduced before then. Pitting two brothers against each other in a winner-take-all type of match is the kind of fight that many people want to see since the drama is just as great as the action.
Raging Bull

Boxing movies that get down and dirty and more than a little bloody are often revered as great in one way or another. This movie, in particular, was great for the drama, as well as the brutal fight scenes.
