10 Movies That are “Out of Line”

Anytime someone mentions 10 movies that are “out of line” or controversial, it’s a laugh since many act like this is the first time such a thing has happened. Unfortunately for humanity, controversy and theater go hand in hand.
Blazing Saddles

Mel Brooks pulled no punches in this Western comedy, and the fans loved it. Granted, he was making fun of stereotypes and creating satire out of things people greatly offended, but it worked in a way that many couldn’t emulate.
Tropic Thunder

Out of everything featured in this movie, the idea of Robert Downey Jr.’s character having dark skin is the most abhorrent. And yet, people laughed at it, people liked it, because it was turned into something funny that didn’t take itself too seriously.
The Goonies

Body-shaming for the hell of it isn’t cool; that much is easy to agree with. However, the “truffle shuffle” is still a classic moment in this movie; even Jeff Cohen can look back and laugh.
The Passion of The Christ

This was always bound to be controversial since it examines Christianity in a light that many don’t care for. Still, it was an emotional movie.
Cannibal Holocaust

The visuals in this movie are, by far and large, what people can’t stand or don’t want to talk about. Other than that, it’s a film that is disturbing to watch but is also something people can’t stop talking about.
Natural Born Killers

The content of this movie is hard to watch, or at least it was when it came out. Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis did a good enough job, but this is a cult classic that many people feel they could do without.
Cuties

People defended this movie; that’s how controversial it was. When using little girls for sexual content, though, it was bound to get the negative attention it deserved at one point.
The Exorcist

Again, Christians don’t much care for scenes in movies where their religion is brought into question. Plus, it’s fair to say that what Reagan did with the crucifix wasn’t appreciated either.
Fight Club

“In Tyler, we trust.” It does seem that people had more of an issue with the movie’s deviation so wildly from the book. Anything else was just a lot of interesting content waiting to be analyzed.
Do The Right Thing

Focusing on racism is always bound to be a sticky issue. One thing to remember about this subject is that someone will always seek resolution, and someone else will seek to make a big deal of a small issue that grows exponentially until the climax.
