10 Takeaways from The Boys Finale

If you haven’t been keeping up with The Boys season 4, well, that’s on you. But with the finale having led to more questions than answers, it’s time to discuss what we’ve seen. Here are 10 takeaways from The Boy’s finale that might make you cringe, cheer, or wonder what in the hell is going on.
Butcher is even more dangerous than before
Remember when Butcher took the temporary V the first time? Yeah, he was bad enough when he could slug it out with Homelander. Now that he can shred multiple people at a time, it’s fair to say that his return to a lack of morality will mean trouble for many individuals.
The free reign given to supes is a bad idea
Now that the president, not Singer or Neuman, is willing to kowtow to Homelander, it’s open season on anyone targeting supes. But is that a good idea, or will it lead to utter chaos? Based on the last few seasons, it’s fair to state that things are about to get worse.
What role will Soldier Boy play in season 5?
Seeing him in the post-credit scene wasn’t surprising since only a handful of people didn’t know he was still alive. But will Homelander kill him in his stasis tube, or will he let him out and finish things?
Sage is playing a long game and still banking with arrogance
Thanks to the character’s arrogance, she’s made it very easy not to like her since she came in. This means that the actress, Susan Heyward, is doing a great job, but it also means that Sage could be tripped up at some point while exulting in how smart she is. Or, she could just upset Homelander again and suffer a permanent lobotomy.
What exactly has Ashley become?
Is anyone surprised that Ashley would become desperate enough to use Compound V? The big question now is what she will become and whether she will be a genuine threat to what’s left of the Seven.
The death of Neuman was long overdue
It was surprising, that much is true, but it’s tough to trust someone who can explode your head just by looking at you. Neuman’s death was vicious, but it does feel as though it should have come sooner.
Starlight is essentially alone
The ability to take off before being torn apart or compressed into a bloody pile of flesh and bone came back just in time. But the question of what Starlight will do now is hard to answer. It’s especially tough since, with Hughie captured, it does feel that she might become a little harder to predict.
Generation V gives the supes a considerable advantage
With Cate and Sam now on Team Vought, it’s easy to assume that they’ll be used as watchdogs and in a much greater capacity as time passes. In the next season, it’s not tough to think they’ll have a bigger part in taking on whatever is left of The Boys. A fight between these two and Butcher would be interesting.
Homelander now has his puppet president
The disclaimer before this episode made it clear that some people might be offended, but in the spirit of what this show is about, that sounds a little ridiculous. The Vought-driven agenda is something that people saw coming from far off and has been building for the last few seasons.
We’re going to be waiting a couple of years for the next season
Nothing is set in stone now, but it sounds like the next season will take a while to reach the small screen. Whatever will happen from this point on is going to be discussed by plenty of people, but the actual season is going to take a while.
