15 Greatest Horror Movies of All Time

Determining the 15 greatest horror movies of all time is tough since opinions vary widely. But here are some of the best and most well-liked.
It
Everything about this movie, except the ending, was great. The overwhelming terror, the jump scares, everything was excellent. But that ending, yikes.
Friday the 13th
It’s very amusing that many people still don’t realize Jason wasn’t the first killer in this series. His mother kicked it all off and created a killer unlike many that were seen in that day.
Nightmare on Elm Street
This movie has been given a reboot, but fans weren’t having it. Admittedly, Robert Englund is a hard actor to top.
Halloween
This movie series was awkward and understated in many ways. Michael was a great killer in his day, but these days, he kind of gets lost in the mix.
Dracula
Dracula and other movie monsters are iconic, but they’ve been done in so many ways that it’s tough to pick a favorite. Bela Lugosi kicked off a long-running campaign that is still immensely popular.
Frankenstein
Yes, this is the name of the monster’s creator, not the actual monster. But thanks to Mary Shelley, this is still how the creature became known.
The Wolf Man
Old-school movie monsters were great because they relied on acting skills and practical effects, not CGI and big-name actors. That’s a big reason why they’re still considered classics.
The Invisible Man
The utter terror of thinking that a madman you can’t see is somewhere near is enough to send a shudder through many people. But like many movies, this one was redone several times.
The Mummy
Egyptian curses have a way of making people back up a step. While the reality is that mummification has happened without the dead returning to life, it’s still a great story that gained a lot of ground.
Phantom of the Opera
As a tragic love story, this tale has been adapted in many ways. It’s even been used in satire several times.
Child’s Play
You don’t tend to look at dolls the same way after movies like this. Chucky wasn’t the first killer doll to hit the big or small screens, but he was one of the most terrifying.
Get Out
Jordan Peele definitely touched on many different tropes with this movie. But many people find the utter terror of not being in control terrifying.
Annabelle
Again, dolls are a creepy way for evil spirits to reach out and touch someone. Not only that, but the real doll that inspired this movie was slightly more bizarre.
Saw
This happens when someone with too much time, money, and a warped sense of morals takes it upon himself to dispense justice as he sees fit. Some people would cheer for Jigsaw until the blood and body parts start flying.
Aliens
The first movie set the tone, but the second made it even creepier by bringing it back to ground level. The fact that the second movie was based in a fusion reactor settlement was terrible enough, but introducing the queen xenomorph was brilliant.
