19 States That Don’t Have an NFL Team

It’s funny how there are 19 states that don’t have an NFL team. Maybe the money’s not there, or specific states aren’t interested.
Alabama
College ball is a big deal in Alabama, but otherwise, people have their choice between the Saints, the Titans, or the Panthers as hometown heroes. One would think that the state might want its own representatives.
Alaska
This far removed from the rest of the country, it’s fair to state that Alaskans have a wide selection of teams to root for. But apart from the CFL, you might find a lot of Seahawk fans.
Arkansas
The Saints, Texans, and Titans are all viable options to root for. But in terms of their own team, Arkansas residents might feel like sticking to their national parks for their natural attractions.
Delaware
It’s fair to say that many people forget that Delaware is even there. But you might find that many people lean toward the Patriots, Giants, or Steelers. There might even be a lot of Ravens fans.
Hawaii
Remember what I said about Alaska? Well, double that for Hawaii. Their interest in an NFL team is a moot point since every game would be an away game.
Idaho
Idaho might not even want its own team, but if it had one, Seattle would be its biggest contender. That’s a guess, but a good one.
Iowa
Can you imagine how many households are torn between the Packers and the Vikings? Imagine if Iowa had a team of its own; it would be anarchy.
Kansas
It’s funny how this state doesn’t have its own team, but a team is named after them. Maybe it’s best to be Kansas City Chiefs fans.
Kentucky
Getting away from college ball, it’s fair to say that Kentucky is satisfied without having its own team. But the Titans, Bengals, and Colts leave plenty of options.
Mississippi
Sometimes, a state feels excellent without needing a team. The Saints, Titans, and Falcons are great choices to follow.
Montana
Just imagine if the northernmost states had their own teams. However, many Montana residents follow the CFL or Seahawks, so that feels satisfactory.
Nebraska
This state does have a great basketball team, so maybe an NFL team isn’t needed. Plus, their nearest teams to pick from are the Broncos and the Chiefs, so that works.
New Mexico
There are plenty of surrounding teams to pick from, so maybe having their own team isn’t a necessity. Picking from the Cowboys, Cardinals, or Texans offers some good options.
North Dakota
This is the type of state where people who love the NFL will pick teams that don’t make a lot of sense or pick the Vikings. Having their own team doesn’t seem like a huge priority.
Oklahoma
With Texas next door and the Chiefs not too far away, it does feel as though Oklahoma might not really want its own team. Sometimes, it’s best just to choose something close.
Oregon
Many people in Oregon pick teams from far and wide, but the hometown heroes are often the Seahawks or the 49ers. Since Seattle is a little closer, most towns will fly the Seahawks’ colors.
South Carolina
With the Panthers located just one state over, it’s fair to think that the Carolinas are covered. Then again, some Carolinians do favor the Falcons.
South Dakota
Dakota residents are often Vikings fans out of necessity unless they find another team to favor. These states don’t seem to care much about supporting their NFL team.
Utah
You’ll find a lot of Cardinals and Broncos fans in this state, but you won’t see a lot of calls for their own team. Some states rely heavily on other attractions for their notoriety.
Virginia
Virginia is already known for so many things that adding an NFL team feels like it would be overkill. But NFL fans in this state typically root for the Panthers, the Titans, or even the Commanders.
