10 Reasons Why It’s Time for The Terminator Franchise to Stop

There are 10 reasons why it’s time for The Terminator franchise to stop. A lot of fans would probably agree.
The story has been retconned too much
There are an infinite number of ways that this story can be told. Unfortunately, too many start stepping on the same timeline and appear too similar.
They killed John Connor
This was one of the biggest mistakes this story could have made. The main characters must die occasionally, but Sarah Connor’s death would still have been more impactful and less likely to force the fans to turn on the franchise.
Dark Fate was a trainwreck combined with a dumpster fire
People can deny that ‘girl power’ or something similar was in effect in this movie, but the removal of John Connor facilitated a new resistance leader. Not only that, but the idea that women can be more challenging than men in this instance isn’t bad; it’s how it was presented.
Everything after the second movie was suspect
Messing around with the future by changing the past is bound to be messy. But the fact that Skynet was still a factor after tampering so much with the past is ridiculous.
There’s been no genuine attempt to allow the story to evolve
The tight focus on the developed main characters has killed off a lot of interest. People still want to see this story, but it hasn’t yet moved past its initial moorings.
The movies need to get away from John Connor without killing him
Let’s allow John Connor to fade from the equation after a while. But give the character his due and let him pass on in a dignified manner, not by being shot down in the past as a child.
How about showing the origin of Schwarzenegger’s Terminator?
It would be interesting to see how the templates for each terminator were formed. Even in Terminator 3, this was never fully fleshed out.
What’s happening with the rest of the world?
There’s a very narrow focus on the main characters and more broad strokes being used to describe the rest of the world. So, how did Judgment Day affect the rest of the world?
The story would need a severe overhaul to keep going
It might even require a hard reboot to make it make sense any longer since everything is so tangled. Put the franchise to rest and create a new story using the template given.
Even with new actors, the directors are still too short-sighted
Look at it this way: the franchise has brought in Robert Patrick, Kristianna Loken, Sam Worthington, Christian Bale, Nick Stahl, Claire Daines, Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney, and many others to make this make sense. And they’ve still missed the mark more than once.
