10 Takeaways from The Acolyte Finale

Out of everything that was revealed, we should talk about 10 takeaways from “The Acolyte” finale. Season 1 is in the books, and now it’s time to reflect and figure out what happened. Trying to sort out the endgame isn’t tough, but the process by which it occurs is still shaping up.
The lines between good and evil are being continually blurred
It’s never been fully black and white when it comes to Star Wars since, between canon and non-canon, there have been plenty of stories displaying how tenuous the line between both is. However, with the actions and attitudes of the main characters showing that human emotions get in the way quite often, it’s tough to root for anyone at this point.
“May the Force be with you” is turned into a punchline
The fact that this is said almost mockingly by a senator of all people is hard to stomach, at least for long-time fans. However, the fact remains that it does add some depth to the story as it indicates the divide between Force-users and everyone else.
Osha’s descent to the Dark side felt inevitable
How often do you see a kyber crystal corrupted in real-time? Watching a blue lightsaber turn red was impressive, but did anyone think that Osha would remain impassive and even-tempered when it’s been revealed that she and Mae are two halves of a whole person? Where she goes from here is hard to say, but it doesn’t appear that she’s ready to embrace the light side of the Force.
Who is the shadowy figure in the cave?
Plenty of people are stating that this has to be the notorious Darth Plagueis, the Sith who would eventually teach Sheev Palpatine his secrets. It’s not a bad guess and could be entirely correct since the timeline works and it’s fair to assume that the Sith had to go through a few apprentices to reach the desired goal. But there are a lot of questions raised by his appearance, namely who he’s teaching, and if he’s even involved with Qimir at this point.
The corruption of the Jedi Order started long before the original prequels
It’s simple to state that the Jedi Order was bound to endure corruption from the start considering the type of power they wield. Those who have read the High Republic books and played the games know the possibilities and shouldn’t have been shocked by this revelation. Corruption on a small scale is bound to happen, but left unchecked, it will always grow.
Sol’s loss feels a little overdue
A lot of fans will no doubt argue this point since Sol was a balancing factor for a while. But since the reveal that he did kill Osha and Mae’s mother, it’s a confrontation that needed to happen. The fact that Osha suddenly found the strength to kill her former mentor though does indicate that Sol had already consigned himself to his fate, since raw power doesn’t always match up with experience. Just ask Anakin Skywalker how that matchup went in Episode VI.
Is Osha going to be as effective without Sol or Mae?
Most things in the Star Wars universe operate on a type of balance, and unfortunately for Osha, who is not as emotionally strong or balanced as others, her two anchor points are now gone. Mae’s memory is gone (spoilers, sorry), and Sol is dead. Qimir is not the type to create balance no matter his backstory. So, when is Osha going to lose that already-tenuous control?
There’s no word of a season 2 yet
It’s tough to believe that there won’t be a season two, but the fact is that the showrunner has already proven to be a bit cagey with details and facts. So it’s not tough at all to think that a season 2 might already be on the drawing board, especially with the way this season ended.
Qimir is Master Rwoh’s former student
That wasn’t a hard revelation to take, since plenty of people have already mentioned Qimir’s scars and the fact that Master Rwoh, who has been acting quite suspicious, carries a lightwhip, a modified version of the saber. A battle between these two would prove interesting.
Was it Yoda at the end or another of his species as a stand-in?
With so many already recognizing the cameo at the end of the episode, it’s tough to say it’s not Yoda when it clearly is. That’s a little confusing though since it was made clear that Yoda would not be in this series. While it’s essentially a harmless lie meant to convey surprise, it still raises more questions than answers that will hopefully be expanded upon if season 2 does happen. If it doesn’t, there’s bound to be a lot of unhappy fans. Suprising, that would not be.
