10 Things We Learned from Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 1

If you haven’t watched the new season yet, be prepared for a few spoilers. Otherwise, let’s get into 10 things we learned from Cobra Kai season 6, part 1.
Past sins are coming back to haunt a few people
It was bound to happen that the past would catch up with a few people in this show. Johnny’s mistakes are returning to haunt him, Daniel’s mistakes are coming back, and even the students are learning that some things aren’t settled so quickly. Unfortunately, some of those sins are being committed by others; for example, Devon cheating to win her spot in the tournament’s top six will only ignite the feud between two of her teammates.
There are a lot of throwbacks
From Robby standing in front of a video screen to get Kenny’s attention to several other moments Karate Kid fans will recognize, season 6 reminds us of great moments from the original movie. Some will likely be ignored or go unnoticed, but film fans will remember several scenes.
Cobra Kai might never die
As long as Kreese is around, it feels like this dojo will never entirely disappear. But with Stingray teaching another class under the same name, it feels like things are shaping up so that Cobra Kai will endure through everything.
Kreese’s origin continues to unfold
We were given a lot of Kreese’s past in the last couple of seasons, but this time around, things get even deeper as we learn where he picked up his skills. Unfortunately, it means a return to an even more brutal history that will show how Kreese became the vindictive individual he is.
Changes are going to make life difficult for every character
College has become a very real thing for several of the students and has even driven a wedge between a few of them. Hawk and Demitri’s spat over MIT feels a little silly until one realizes how long they’ve had this goal in mind. As for Miguel, well, he has all the charm and skill, just none of the funding that he sorely needs.
Waiting until November for part 2 will be tough
The next part of season 6, there will be 3 parts, won’t be coming to YouTube until November of 2024. But waiting for that moment, especially the way part 1 ends, will be tough since the final reveal at the end of the first part was predictable but still tough to see.
Tory’s return to Cobra Kai felt inevitable
Spoiler: Tory did return to Cobra Kai thanks to John Kreese, in part. But with the death of her mother, Tory was not in the right head space. Unfortunately, this means she would latch onto anyone who could allow her to vent her rage and frustration.
What did Mr. Miyagi do?
The mysterious box found in the flooring of Mr. Miyagi’s home has opened a new can of worms for Daniel. As things move forward, hopefully, Miyagi’s association with a boxing gym, his supposed crimes, and the secrets that he kept for so long will be revealed.
Are Kenny and Anthony going to reconcile?
The issues between these two started when Anthony pulled a prank on Kenny. But now that Kenny is tougher yet still vulnerable, the incident that occurred during his chance to qualify as one of the six for the tournament will no doubt set things off again.
The ‘do anything to win’ attitude is strong with several characters
The need Robby has to change his life, Miguel’s attempt to impress Stanford, Sam’s need for closure, and Devon’s need to be the best are attitudes that have driven each of them to achieve what they want. Unfortunately, in Devon’s case especially, it means taking less than moral actions, like kicking off a feud that had all but died between Kenny and Anthony.
