5 Characters Who Could Help Revive Star Wars

A common argument at this time is that Star Wars is on a severe decline and possibly on its way out. The changes that have been made to the franchise since Disney took over have been heavily criticized even with the commercial success that’s on record. There are ways to bring the hardcore and casual fans together, but it’s a question of whether or not Disney will make this happen. But there are at least 5 characters who could help revive Star Wars, if the House of Mouse was willing to develop them further.
Mara Jade Skywalker

It does feel like it’s too late, doesn’t it? If she were to have a chance to show up in this franchise it should have happened long ago. But there’s always a chance that she could have been hidden somewhere in the galaxy; it’s a big place, after all. With the passing of Luke, her husband in the Expanded Universe, it’s not impossible that she could have been keeping his legacy alive.
Cade Skywalker

In a future version of Star Wars where Imperial Knights exist, and Darth Krayt reveals himself as a former Jedi from the Clone Wars, Cade Skywalker was the descendant of Luke and Mara. Maybe creating a storyline with him in it would be wise, especially since it could open up other events that Disney has glossed over.
Doctor Aphra

Aphra’s popularity has reached a point in Star Wars lore that could easily see her cast in a movie or a TV show. Fans would no doubt love to see the morally bankrupt character swaggering onto the screen to show just how controversial she could be. Whether Disney would allow that part of the character to show up is hard to say, though.
Poe Dameron

The Rogue One movie left many people feeling that we would get to see Wedge Antilles and his group of daredevils, as shown in the books. But then again, it was necessary to remember that Disney will not use the EU unless it’s interested in cherry-picking and calling those ideas ‘original.’ But perhaps Poe could bring in the true nature and culture of the famous X-Wing squadron if allowed to do so.
The Yuuzhan Vong

One of the most significant conflicts in the EU’s history, the Vong War, was as destructive as it was unexpected. Just imagining an entire race that could remain absent in the Force and, therefore, a true challenge to the Jedi is interesting enough to think it might work. Not only that, but it would ensure another great series in the Star Wars franchise.
