10 Reasons Women’s Sports Struggle

Trying to sort out the 10 reasons women’s sports struggle is difficult since there are many differing opinions on the subject. Unfortunately, many of them don’t appear to have weakened over the years, doubling down as many individuals attempt to explain why this issue persists in various ways.
Lack of role models
There are plenty of female athletes for young girls to look up to, but there is one major, glaring issue: Many of them don’t receive the same attention as their male counterparts.
There are safety and transportation issues
The lack of funding often means that there isn’t enough security for female sports. There is alson’t a lot of money for transportation, which is absolutely necessary for teams when it comes to expanding their influence.
They don’t earn as much money
The most obvious examples in this case are women’s soccer and the WNBA. While they do have fans, they don’t make nearly as much as the men’s teams.
There’s a lack of access
This is a bit debatable since there is a great deal of access for girls and women in sports. The main issues have to do with access and availability.
Their sports don’t get as much attention
Even the women’s lingerie league doesn’t get that much attention, and it’s geared toward what men want to see. Other factors contribute to this, however.
Female sports are seen as poor copies of male sports
This sounds cruel to say, but the truth is that at a pro level, it is tough to compare the two. Many women are entertaining to watch in sports, but when compared to men, they tend to come up short.
Their performance is not at the same level as men’s
Stating that women cannot compete with men sounds dismissive and sexist, but it’s a truth many do not want to see. But this has been admitted by several female athletes.
Fans prefer sports that are quicker and more hard-hitting
Watching men’s soccer vs. women’s soccer is usually a little more entertaining, and there’s not much debate between the NBA and WNBA when it comes to entertainment. Sports like the NFL and MLB have a larger fan base that prefers action-packed moments.
Female sports are not as entertaining
This is another debatable point, but unfortunately, female sports do not see the same turnout as male sports. While there are many arguments about this matter, the numbers don’t lie.
Activism and media hype have continued to widen the divide between fans
In many ways, it feels as though activism is little more than people jumping up and shouting to get attention than advocating for women’s sports. Unfortunately, this irks many people instead of drawing them toward sporting events.
