10 of The Greatest Zombie Movies

Trying to pick out 10 of the greatest zombie movies is a little challenging. Many of them are great for several reasons, but only a handful are great from start to finish.
Night of the Living Dead
George Romero kicked off the genre in a big way with this movie. Since this came out, things have spiraled out of control in some ways, but several directors have also created great movies inspired by this legendary film.
28 Days Later
It’s interesting to go across the pond and see how an outbreak would affect another country. One thing that’s interesting about this virus, though, is that it doesn’t appear to kill people so much as it does alter them as it takes away all conscious thought and turns them into mindless killing machines.
World War Z
Twelve seconds is all it takes to become a brainless killer intent on spreading the virus. The fact that the zombies only try to bite people is insane but sensible.
Dawn of the Dead
Holing up in a mall during a zombie invasion should be okay, right? Well, as expected, things take a drastic turn as the final two survivors eventually have to run and head onward toward an uncertain future.
Shaun of the Dead
Taking a zombie movie and giving it a dark sense of humor is a gamble, but it worked in this case. While it did get a little gruesome, Shaun of the Dead was hilarious.
Zombieland
Imagine being one of the only few people left alive after a zombie apocalypse and being stuck with a redneck like Tallahassee? It’s a funny movie that doesn’t follow all the rules, and it succeeded thanks to that.
Army of the Dead
There are many points to argue about whether this movie was that great. But it still deserves to be on this list since it had many memorable moments.
Train to Busan
The level of emotion in this movie is nuts. It made many people cry from start to end, but the terrifying rush of the zombies dried those tears up very quickly.
Resident Evil
This didn’t work as a video game movie for many people. But it was great as a zombie movie because it had a lot of action and didn’t take itself too seriously.
I Am Legend
Seeing Will Smith in a zombie movie was awkward. But, seeing as how it was packed with just enough action, it worked.
