10 of The Most Horrifying Fictional Locations

When it comes to thinking about 10 of the most horrifying fictional locations it’s fair to say that many are glad they don’t exist. But there are those who would love to see if these places are real just to say they’d been there. It’d be interesting to see if those individuals said the same after visiting the places listed below.
Derry, Maine-It

Stephen King is known for creating fictional towns and locations that are overwhelmingly horrible. But the fact is that Derry is a regular town, at least to outward appearances. When you figure out that it’s under Pennywise’s thrall, well, the small-town charm fades quickly.
The Overlook Hotel-The Shining

Hotels are naturally creepy places anyway, at least to some people. You never know what’s happened within the halls, the rooms, and even in the spaces you can’t see. Plus, the isolation of the Overlook is enough to rattle a lot of people.
Camp Crystal Lake-Friday the 13th

Normally, camp isn’t such a big deal. But when you hear stories about people being brutally murdered by a figure that can somehow catch up to you without running, well, that’s a little creepy.
Mordor-The Lord of the Rings

It’s a definite contrast from the rest of Middle Earth since Mordor is a blasted hellscape that spawns the worst types of characters. It’d be easy to say it’s not the worst spot save for the fact that it houses the worst of the worst characters in the entire franchise.
Silent Hill-Silent Hill

In the movie it simply looks like a place of the damned. The ashy gray appearance and the deranged appearance of the inhabitants is only the beginning. Once a person stumbles into this town it only gets worse.
Jurassic Park-Jurassic Park

Granted, it looks like a jungle vacation that might be kind of interesting. That is, until you realize it’s a jungle habitat for a bunch of genetically-modified monsters that are being passed off as something that once existed in nature. Yeah, hard pass.
Castle Rock, Maine-Needful Things

Stephen King stages a lot of his stories in this town, so it’s tough to believe that it’s not real, right? It’s probably better that it’s not since otherwise fans might be swarming the town every now and again to see where one of King’s stories took place.
Antonio Bay, California-The Fog

How many people remember this movie? The remake wasn’t much to look at, but it was a decent attempt. Still, imagine living in coastal town with this reputation. It’s something that you might want to know before settling in.
Hobb’s End, Maine-In The Mouth of Madness

This is why you don’t criticize authors too harshly, or trust them implicitly. Granted, it’s a fictional town in a fictional movie, but it’s still something that shows the power of literature and how crazy things can really get. Thankfully none of it’s real, right?
Raccoon City-Resident Evil

Fans of the video games were divided when this movie first came out, but it’s not as bad as it could have been. Plus, over time, Raccoon City took one hell of a beating as the zombie apocalypse continued to evolve.
