10 Reasons Why Star Wars is Failing

It’s easy to list 10 reasons why Star Wars is failing to connect with fans. Unfortunately, accessible solutions are being continuously ignored.
The franchise isn’t matching up with the rising competition
At one time, Star Wars was on top of the entertainment world. In recent years, the competition has gained a lot of ground, and now, the saga isn’t quite as important as it used to be.
Sadly, the Skywalker saga was given way too much focus
That’s tough to say, but it’s the truth. There haven’t been a lot of Star Wars movies that didn’t deal with the Skywalker saga in some manner. The books have done far more work to flesh out the universe.
When George Lucas stepped away, things changed in a big way
The moment it was announced that Lucasfilm was being purchased by Disney and George Lucas was stepping away, it was obvious. Things were going to change, and not always for the best.
The fanbase has become insanely divisive
Star Wars fans are known for being a little nuts, but over the years, things have only gotten worse. It does have something to do with the fact that the storytellers have ignored what the fans want.
Getting viewers is becoming tougher
More and more people are moving away from Star Wars to take an interest in other franchises. At this time, Star Wars needs to expand in a big way.
Too many releases cause the franchise to lose its special touch
This has affected a few franchises, as too many releases in too short of a time can lower the interest of the fanbase. Releasing one or two movies in a span of two to three years or more makes it far more special.
The original characters set a high bar
People still recall Han Solo, Leia, Luke, and Chewbacca, among other names. They created a legendary base that’s tough to match.
The initial trilogy isn’t going to be topped
Most fans are still going to remain adamant that the original trilogy is the best. Even the advanced technology and effects of today can’t change that.
Changing up the movie and TV show release schedule isn’t working
Right now, it feels as though Lucasfilm is in panic mode in response to the vitriol of the fans. Not everything is horrible, but there isn’t enough groundbreaking content to keep people returning.
Poor planning, plain and simple
Keeping George Lucas around would have been much better. When the House of Mouse took over, the bottom slowly began to drop out.
